Fair trade?: 8" Kicker L7 for15" MA Audio ma150xl

I am looking to trade my 8" L7 for something bigger to put in my Trailblazer and have received an offer for a 15" MA Audio 150xl sub. From what I've read it is a pretty decent sub (600 rms/1200 peak), but it came out in 2002, making it 10 years old... It retailed for ~$250 back then. My L7 is a few generations old, I bought it in 2006. Also, his sub is already in a ported box which looks like it's prefab but not really a big deal. Would this be a fair trade? I would of course have it played for me before I went through with it.

Basically, is MA audio a good brand? Don't want to get ripped off here.

you better off just selling the l7 to some noob. and buying something new. could pull 200$ to the right person then pick up a decent 12" or even a cheap 15" new

That's ideally what I would like to do. I found his ad on craigslist for it and he's only asking $70 for the sub and box. He claims it is a "professionally built ported box" which would alone be worth ~$50 so my guess is the sub has a blown coil or something...

go test it out ma audio subs are preatty cheap im from fort laderdale myself and most audio stolen anyway so you never know. or fiends be fiendin for that cash lol but how old the subs is if you could pick up the "pro built box" and the sub for like 40$ sell the sub and your current l7 and box throw all that cash towards a better 15. how much power do you have now?

haha thats true... I'll just be using a 400 watt Kicker amp that I have laying around. Recently got a Kenwood double din and a set of CDT components+small Hifonics amp installed so I'm just looking to add a little bass. Had the Kicker amp and the 8" L7 laying around since I sold my single cab Chevy S10 years ago. I would just throw the L7 in my new ride but I drive a Trailblazer so I was looking to trade for something more aesthetically pleasing.

Hey, just seen this posting. Small world. I'm the one with the M.A. audio 15". I understand you not felling comfortable about the trade, it is Craigslist after all. But to be honest there is nothing wrong with the sub other than it being old and having little scuffs here and there. The kid I got it from had it wired to 8ohms and that is how he got it. From the way it preforms I'm certain there is still life left in it. Also I know the box is not a prefab because it is double baffled on the face and I had to add the terminal to it plus the L shaped ported has it tuned around 35hz (if I did my math right). No offense to you nor am I trying to get you to reconsider the trade. I just don't want any locals on here to see my add and not think it's legit.

haha wow that's crazy... I'm still keeping you in mind man. I'd rather get cash for my sub but if I can't find a buyer then I'll be hitting you up.

And I'm not sure what you meant by it being wired to 8 ohms though... Is that how you currently have it hooked up?

I'd buy it for seventy...wired to two ohms that lil kicker amp wouldn't be a bad setup for that cheap.

u could sell that l7 locally and get a new sa-15 bstock for 130 shipped. just sayin that ma is decent for cheap but i would take the cash and wait on the classifieds here and get something much better. patience is key

I'd love to do something like that... but then I would need a $200 custom box. Not looking to spend anymore money. I'm a broke college student haha

when i made my box i was too. honestly a table saw a few clamps and screw really simple tools needed. otherwise get a nice sub put it in a ****** prefab sealed untill you make/can afford a better one. then you will understand why ported is so much better

The kid I got it from had it wired to 8 ohms (not knowing) so it was not getting beat up on by the amp he had it hooked to. That's why he sold it because "it was not loud". I currently have it wired @ 2ohms seeing maybe 600 watts from my apsm1300.
