Sold f/s ibm thinkpad tablet

call ibm, give them the serial, they will see if it has been reported stolen, if it hasnt they will back trace it through the vendor who sold that laptop and that vendor can call the customer to see if it is stolen or just sold

just saying, the sellers story is lame. i mean why cant he make a simple phone call to his ex to find out the info?

if he wont do that why not tell ebay about it? did you buy it knowing it was password protected? if not and he cant supply a password you should get a refund

im trying to remember the program i used a while ago, but it just scanned and gave the password through a linux utility.

edit:

found it.

http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net

i promise that will work.

and if it doesnt have a cd drive, as stated above, boot it off usb.

instructions from usb :It is really easy to make your USB stick bootable and run ophcrack LiveCD from it. Moreover, it's much faster to boot from USB than CD.

1. Download the latest ophcrack LiveCD iso.

2. Uncompress the iso file on an empty USB stick using a utility like 7-zip on Windows or by mounting it on a loop device and copying the files on Linux.

3. Execute bootinst.bat on Windows or bootinst.sh on Linux in the boot folder of the USB stick to make it bootable.

You're done
