Maelstrom X is a badass subwoofer yes. You need a HUGE box for it though and a lot of power and strong midbass drivers if you want to have any type of balanced system. This sub is very bottom heavy, will be very strong in the 60hz and below range. You will want a strong midbass to pick up the slack above 60

^ What he said.

The driver is designed for home use, requires a large box (by car audio standards), and its goal is a flat response in a room down to/near 20 Hz. In a car, it's going to be very bottom end heavy. And as previously stated, it's going to need a HUGE box. It's not really that power hungry though. It can handle a good bit of power, but it doesn't need that much power.
