extending tensils?

so i broke a tensil and theres like a half inch of it missing..i dont know how but there is. is it safe to extent it with some wire or anything?

i dont give a shiz if its a stupid question.lol

cut the lead off near the cone, solder on new wire, and coat the connection with epoxy...
