explain this

I re-routed my power and ground yesterday and then put everything back together.

I drove to work. stereo sounds normal. i get home and slide my seat up because i dropped my cellphone in the crack on the side of the seat and i see that i forgot to hook the ground up on my sub amp. The wire is just sitting there on the floor waiting to be conneted.

It could've been touching your seat slider metal, which is connected to the body of your car, and made a ground.

nope. my slider is well above it. one of the screws that holds it down is touching metal but not very hard. Its really just sittin on it. could that tiny bit of continuity be enough to power my amp?

The case of the amp may be touching the - terminal on the amp and grounded through the mounting screws if they go into metal.
