Experienced a "breaking and entering" robbery last night

I did nothing out of the ordinary last night, meaning just hung around and ate dinner then locked up, turned off the lights, and went to bed. I slept in my room with my door closed, window open with a small fan blowing into my room and my tv volume louder than the fan. I woke up and took my shower went to get breakfast and noticed the back door was open. Once i saw that and remembered I locked up, I noticed the 42"TV was missing. I woke up my room mate and asked him if he did anything with the TV he paid for that was in the living room. He had no idea like i suspected and we called the cops. AFter calling we noticed that the screen to our window was missing and they must have come into the window and out through the door.

Cop showed up and asked the roomie for his id. He couldnt find his wallet. Gave the cop my info and left for class. Come to find out, my room mates 42"tv, his wallet, and his laptop were all taken out of the living room. I am not surprised that I did not wake up due to all the noise in my room, however the roomie was "awake" all night throwing up and he didnt hear anything.

I suspect that they heard him flush his toilet or wake up and start throwing up so they left with only the tv comp and wallet. I still have my 5.1 receiver, 2 bose201v's, and 2 klipsche or w/e towers. The towers are a buddies and he said they were ~$500 a piece. I am so glad they didnt take any of my stuff, but feel bad for the roomie.

The only people that have come to our house that we didnt know are friends of friends so I sent out a few messages letting people know what happened and if they hear or see anything regarding the TV or computer to please let me know. All the friends are trustworthy, but the friends friends I just do not know them so they could have been robbers, murders, who knows. I also told the roomie to contact all the pawn shops here and in the surrounding counties, check craigslist daily, and to keep an eye on ebay....

I doubt there is much more than can be done except adding a security system to the house which is dumb because we lease only for a few more months.

I just figured I would share the story. Things like this do happen so lock you 1st floor windows, lock you doors, and be careful who comes in your house and what can be seen from the outside of the house.

Thanks for the kind words.....thank goodness no one was raped! I do wish I would have woken up though, I have always wanted to take my guitar to someones face.

nah, we have lived together the past two school years and nothing has been taken or missing from either of us. He trusts me and I trust him so that will def. not be an issue.

Yeah no worries. Acoustic or electric? They make different noises when struck against a criminal's face.

Keep your eyes peeled for pawn shops, as that's probably the easiest place to dump them. Also, if he hasn't cancelled his cards already, possibly check the location of usage.

Hope it works out. Time to get a dog?

damm that **** *****. thats why i have sensors around my house and drive way that will turn on specific lights in the house. plus 2 cameras. no only for my crib but for the cars too. good luck finding your stuff man, they had balls for doing it while yyah were ther

I just figured if he calls the majority (all) of the pawn shops surrounding and lets them know the make and model of both his computer and tv that they would probably help since they aren't legally aloud to buy stolen goods. I might think about a dog, but I will be moving in a few months and my new room mate already has a dog and a cat so I don't know if I want to deal with all that. Well I have both an acoustic and electric, but would probably grab the electric so I could put a dent in his face.

Thats what I was/am thinking. Thats why it makes me think it MAY have been someone we know, but I really really don't think that is the case because we hang out with everyone we know so they would need a stash house and some way to not let any word get out which is almost impossible. I, again, wish I would have woken up.

If the stuff that was stolen was getting outdated, and your friend had an insurance policy with a full value replacement type feature he could have set up the break-in to not only get all new stuff, but sell the old stuff.

Pretty sure the only insurance he has is through his parents or with the company we are leasing with. no matter the case, I dont think he will have much luck getting any money out of either item through any kind of insurance.

haha i would laugh at that. But the tv was bought at the beginning of the first semester and worked fine. LCD 42" 1080i visio. and his computer he got at the beginning of last year and needs it bad for his finals coming up next week so i dont think he would want to get rid of either of those....unless he could get insurance money, but like i said i dont tihnk that is the case.

well that suks you had to go through that. your lucky them crazy crack heads didn't come in your rooms to see what was happening.

I know theres a lot of people on this fourm including me, who if they had that happen to them we probably wouldnt hear the story for a while due to them being investigated for exercising their rights.
