Exide Orbital Extreme Cycle 34XCD

Does anyone have any experiance with these batteries? I've read through the specs and they seem simular to the Optima Yellow-Top batteries. I'm wanting to get a good deep cycle battery (stereo king here is pushing these batteries) and I can get one for $128. Well actually, it would be free since the local autoshop killed my 1 year old Sears 950CCA DieHard Gold battery. The shop said they would buy me any battery I wanted and the specs on the Exide battery looked good. For more info look here....

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well imho that exide batt looks good.

what concerns me is that the shop killed your nice and new diehard battery.

how did they manage this?

seems like incompetance to me.

did that diehard cover your needs?

if it did then i would go back to it.

optima's are proven. so is stinger.

tough to say what to do.

are you looking to just replace that battery or replace and add a second one?

They killed my battery by accidently leaving the key in the car...in the accessory position for a few days. BLAMO....dead DieHard. DieHards are known for taking damage when they are ran completely dry....so I'm getting a free new battery of my choice. I'm basicly looking for a good deep-cycle battery to help with my stereo/lighting system. I'll probubly end out getting this Exide battery now...and upgrade to a second one later on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif

well any none deep cycle battery will not like being drained to nothing.

still seems like incompetance to me on the shops part.

makes ya wonder if the work they do is good or not. i mean if they cannot remember to turn off the ignition do they know how to install?

so are you going to go with one or two batteries?

if two then mayb a pair of them exides. would be a few bucks cheaper than yellow top optimas.

mayb get them to do an exide and a battery isolator and you pick up the second battery. since they would obviously be paying cost and not retail or even sale price on that exide they could mayb do the isolator too.

As for me, I would go with the orginal, Optima Batteries. It has a bit more voltage. Regular car batteries has 12.8 volts (fully charged), the Optima Yellow Top has 13.2 volts (fully charged). I had a Diehard Gold battery also. I noticed the difference on my monitor top capacitor. My monitor top has three different colors, red, amber, and green (in that order). With Diehard battery, I could see that it dips into the red; with the Optima Yellow Top, I can see that it dips into the amber. So, I guess it does make a difference. I looked at the Excide battery, and it says 12 volts. 12 point what volts. Like I said, I would go with the orginal.

If you are thinking about a second battery, get one at the same time or of one that is of simular age. Reason being....eg. a flashlight, put two new batteries in it and it will last for a while. Take that same flashlight and put a new battery and an old battery in it; you will find out that the battery does not last as long as two new ones. What happens is that the new battery is supplying the voltage for the two batteries, therefore killing it faster. The same goes with car batteries, in fact with ALL BATTERIES. The main reason why people get a second battery is because they listen to their stereo with the engine off for a long time or for competitions. If you don't plan on doing eaither one, one battery should be enough; providing your alternator is strong enough.

I hope this helps in you decision making.

Don't you need a charging system that charges up to 13.2v to get 13.2v out of a battery? Right now I'm using the stock 110amp alternator that came in my 1991 Infiniti Q45. I plan on eventually getting a local auto-electric shop build me a 260amp alternator. Bad new is its gonna cost me $634 for the alternator and custom installation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

hmmm

i borrowed a yellow top for most of the summer.

i never saw it charge to 13.2 except when the car was running.

i did notice it was better than the ac delco platinum i was running and am back to running now, in regards to discharge anyways.

13.2 volts, that is the voltage output with the car engine off.
Are you test it?, It say 12 Volt Nominal Voltage = Exide

By the Way:

Exide: 1100 Max Amp

18 Month Free Remplacemente Warranty

Optima: 750 Amp

2.8 Mohm Internal Resistance

You should be able to get that Exide for less also if you want a second. $128 is a bit expensive for that battery. I have seen it online for under $100. The Optima and the Exide are basically the same battery. Both are spiral core absorbed glass mat batteries and should have similar if not identical properties. The float voltage on the Optima is advertised to be 13.2V. Your alt should run in the neighborhood of 14V with the engine on and won't have any trouble keeping the battery charged.
