Excelon X-889

Since next month I will be getting this Ford Ranger from my brother, I have been seriously considering this X-889 head unit, amoung a few others. My Ideal behind this is to get this one, put it in my car, pull my Excelon X-589 out of my car and put it in the truck. I can get this head unit for 269.00 shiped from onlinecarstereo.com

Is this good thinking or should I do something else? From what I understand this X-889 is a awesome deck even thought it is a 05' model. Input apreciated. Thanks.

I think you would be nice and happy with that unit. However, I also think you'll like the Pioneer DEH-780mp alot more. I've messed around with the Kenwood quite a bit as my friend has one. The 780 has alot more tweaks and a nicer more colorful screen.

Actually, I happy with what I have now. I'm just doing this because of putting a head unit in my truck. If I would get a Pioneer, I would lean toward the premier

You can get a new X890 off eBay for less than that, for around $230 US shipped. Unless there's some other reason you like the X889 better?

Or why not just wait for the X891? (Which will be out shortly.) It looks nicer than the X890 (which already looks better than the X889) IMO and I think it has more features. With some of the Xyyy1s you don't need the KCA-iP500 adapter box for iPod input, instead a simple [presumably cheaper] cable is all that's needed. That's if you're interested in iPod control anyway.

The X890 does not have the SRS, and system wow sound enhancements. The X889 and X990 does.

^I see... I didn't know that. I guess if that's something you need you'll have to stick with those models. The X891 doesn't have it either, it's only on the X991.

The X-990 is going for 349.00 at crutchfield. I'm about ready to snatch one! Its normally a 500.00 plus head unit. It is sweet ***!
