everytime my computer downloads updates it screws up

ok im running firefox browser, and latly im getting a pop up from ym computer telling me my updates are ready to be saved and after being my pc will automatically restart itself so the updates take in effect and after it does this my arrow(cursor) freezes but all my other programs load fine like aim, msn, and yahoo messenger has if theres no problem..but the arrow freezes and then i have to go in safe mood to do a system restore, but that only last for a few days cause again i get the same thing telling me my updates are ready so for this last week i been doing system restore every **** day..why are the updates screwing with my arrow?
