erasing programs

how do you completely erase programs and things like songs off of your computer. im scanning my computer right now and im seeing games, songs, and programs that i deleted and used the mcafee shredder to get rid of but they are still there. i look all over my computer and cant find them and yet my virus scan still scans them. its not a big deal its just that it takes forever to scan my computer when it could be half as long because half the programs dont really exist. any help would be appreciated.

low level format or one of those programs that write 1's or 0's across the whole disk... either way it doesn't really matter unless it's something illegal and your in trouble...

It's called bleaching, you write zeros over the sectors the file was on several times over.

If you already did this, or that Shredder thing did, you might just need to update the shitty Windows XP "file index", which I have no idea how to do.

theres no problems its just that when i scan my computer for viruses there are like 100,000 programs it goes through when in reality i only have about 25,000. the only reason why i want to get rid of them permanently is that this is my computer and i want to have it last me for a long time and not in a couple years be so conjested with old shit that i need a new one.

where do i find the files cuz i look everywhere but cant find them but im also not very computerly advanced so i may not know actually where to look
