i am looking into adding a equalizer on my head unit... i have never thought about adding this before and naturally i know nothing about equlizers... is there a place where i can read about pro's and con's... input is greatly wanted... i have a kenwood (below) HU. i dont even know the slightest about equlizers... well help me out i am looking to have very nice sound in my truck.... thanks buddies

ok now i know the basics about an EQ. it said it just connects to an rca. IN or OUT???? does this have to be connected to the battery??? would this help me make my truck sound better??? anyone with an EQ please help me with this/ or if you dont have an EQ and know what you talkin' bout help me as well....

thanks

an eqalizer will like take one rca input, and turn it into three rca outputs, high, mid, and sub for three amps. or you can get one with speaker lever outs i do believe. some require a power supply, some do not.

An EQ will hook up in line with your RCA cables after your H/U and before your amps. Most powerful EQ's will require separate power, ground and remote wires to function. Just like an amp.

In the right hands an EQ can help a great deal with SQ. However in the wrong hands an EQ can make a system sound horrible due to unneeded boosting of various freq.

If your looking for a small but very powerful in-dash EQ/Pre-amp.

I have a PPI PAR-245 that I want to sell. Half-din size.

It's a five band EQ. +/- 15db for each band.

16 selectable presets for each of the five bands with variable Q factors. Input clip indicator. PWM power supply.

THD .002% S/N 110dB

Also has a very powerful Pre-amp with input gains adjustable from 0-20 dB. Great for eliminating noise and raising the low pre-out voltage from your H/U. Has selectable green/amber lighting.

Sell it for $90 plus S&H

do some eq's have a remote gain????

ShaunMac:

does this EQ you are talking about have this feature????

and if not does anyone know of eq's with this feature?

Most EQ's I've seen don't have any kind of remote GAIN.

I've seen remote GAIN controls on amps.

But there's probably some EQ's out there that do.

The PPI EQ that I was talking about mounts up front in-dash.

It has a main volume knob that will become the master volume for your system.

BTW why do you want a remote GAIN control?

well my last amp i had a visonik and it had a remote gain. and i like to be able to turn the bass up and down. b/c i had two HCCA's and you really couldnt listen to music with the gain all the way up because it was TOO **** loud. so it was handy. and for this system i wont be having to big competition subs i wont be needing a remote gain. and i dont think i will be needing a eq b/c the head unit i have has a really nice built in eq. but someday down the line i might just had one b/c i have never really installed an eq before and it might be fun to play with, ya know...

later on
