Equalizing!

Yesterday I finally got a couple of hours to play with my Audiocontrol DQXS. I got a digital sound meter and went to it. Using 1K as a level reference, I went from frequency to frequency flattening or boosting exaggerated areas. I found 2 major area's of concern, 50Hz, had to cut by 10 db, and 4K which I had to cut by 10 db. I also had to cut 315hz,400 and 500 by 4 db. Other adjustments were minor..... Then I used the parametric side of the unit to shape the sound to my liking. I ended up with much better sound!

My question is about the degree to which I had to adjust the 2 frequencies, is this normal?

Yes it is normal. In car resonance causes major peaks and dips in the frequency spectrum. I have a major peak at 80hz, 125hz, and 315hz. As well as many minor dips and peaks in the upper end.
