Encloser for 2 XFL 12"s?

Ive got 2 American Bass XFL 12"s and currently have them in a 4cubft Ported subwoofer enclosure. Its Made by mobile sound works. Now I am interested in buying another enclosure from them that would probably (in my opinion) suit these subs a bit better. Now before bashing the company mobile sound works makes a great enclosure. The 2 12" 4cubft one I have is amazing. It is very neat inside and out. Dual layer baffle and 4" port tuned to 32hz. The box I am interested in from them is a 5cubft Box tuned to 33hz 5-6" port and still is very clean and has a nice dual layer baffle. They use very high quality mdf and glue. haven't had one problem so far except I feel the port and internal volume is a bit to small for the subs. im running them at 1ohm on a kicker cx1200.1. Very loud but I feel they need more airspace. Is this worth investing in? or have a custom box built?

Yes try cherrycustoms.com he's a member here has a thread in the sales area. Build everything from super complicated to basic won't sell you crap charges like $60 shipping in US and packs them like fort knoxx. Enclosures make all the difference.

mobile sound works is based in santa ana CA, i live down the street from them and they build the boxes right behind the shop. They just pick a very generic box design and tuning at 32hz, its not horribad, but its not ideal depending on your listening preferences either. What are you missing from your bass? more deep rumbling lows? More throat choking/chest pounding highs? Or just overall loudness?

If its loudness, I doubt changing the box will do too much to help that. You are waaay underpowering those XFL subs, they can handle a 2.5k to 3k amp on them. If you want to get louder, you'll just have to upgrade electricals and get a much bigger amp.

Basically I listen almost all decaf or clean slowed music. I just love the lows that make the doors shake. That enclosure actually hits the lows Pretty hard but, it won't really go below 30hz. Also the kicker cx1200.1 def has to go. After a while of playing (15minutes) those subs actually get pretty warm. I'm starting to think its a mix of DJSNT music and that enclosure being tuned improperly to the music I am playing. I did set the amp gain with an oscilloscope. As far as a custom box goes I'm limited on space due to a trunk. It's a large trunk but still limiting.

Id do a 28hz tuning with a pretty big box with 14 sq inches of port area per cube and bigger box. Youll want more power to bring out the lows, because you can clip a lot easier on the low notes so even if the gain was set with a 40hz tone, it can still clip playing the lower notes. It should not get warm with only a kicker 1200.1

Yes I'm thinking that to the gain was set at 40hz so I'm imagining the clipping is horrible below that. If I like lows such as decaf what frequency do you think the gain be set at? I'm def on a budget so instead of SQ 2200.1d I think I may get a Hifonics BRZ 2400.1d. What do you recommend for internal volume per sub and port size for lows? Not to sure how much bigger than 5cubft I can go in my trunk. My trunks opening is only 34" wide then it's 42" wide inside. 18 inches tall. I can't fit much more than 27~" depth because of angle of trunk opening. So a realistic fit is about 5cubft give or take.

Brx2400 needs a lot of juice to run so you need solid electrical. The gain needs to be set to the voltage output of the hu. The lpf should be set at 80hz.

Now when setting the gain should one check for clipping all through the frequency range they will listen to? Or just set it at 40hz sine wave? I had a frequency sweep play after the 40hz -6db sine wave and below 40hz there was definitely clipping with the lows.

If you play decaf, you should use a -2 or -3 db test tone, not -6 to set gains
How's DJSNT music vs decaf? I've heard DJSNT has clipped waves. Also where can I get a good tone to set my gain for lows? Btw I have the big three mostly done except for one run of stock 2 gauge to the battery. I would finish the big three if gm didn't put the dash and BCM wires and insulation right against the firewall. I'm planning on getting a mechman 320 amp alternator.
