Emergency brake bypass?

I recently just bought a Clarion VRX630 6.5 inch motorized unit and a Clarion VCZ625 DVD/VCD/MP3/CD changer to replace my old Alpine. Anyhow, I have a question; how do you bypass the feature that only allows you to watch video when u engage the emergency brakes? This is my first install of this kind so any help would be greatly appreciated.

All you need to do is ground the wire. Also, many recommend hooking it up to a switch in case you get stopped by a cop because it is illegal to have it on while driving, and if you get stopped it is a good idea to just be able to switch it off whenever it is needed.

I grounded the wire but was unable to pick up a picture. On the instructions it says:

-Connect the terminal to the lead wire on the lamp side of the parking brake lamp switch. After connection, apply the parking brake, then check the TV displays on image. I have tried a couple differenct ground points but neither of them worked. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound like it needs to be grounded. It sounds as if that wire needs to recieve a + (lead) voltage to it to engage the video display.

Using a test probe, measure the voltage on the + (lead) wire from the e-brake while it is engaged. (should be a standard 12 V - but better to test and be sure.)

All you would need to do then is install a + (fused) wire and connect it to the proper wire on the unit itself.

You would essentially be bypassing the switched + On signal that is sent from the e-brake to the light when the brake is engauged. Instead, you would have a constant signal (rather than switched) effectively "fooling" the unit into displaying video.

I just tried connecting the wire to the 12 volt wire from the headunit. It improved, there is a 'audio only' picture on the screen now compared to blank screen before. However it is still in safe mode. Perhaps I didn't use a fuse. Do I have to splice into the e-brake wire for the connection or just any 12 volt wire. What amperage of a fuse should I use? Thanks zane.
