Ok, so I have this bastard Professor who thinks it's fun, exciting, or something else gey to teach the core principles of the class and expect us to learn the more advanced mechanics for ourselves. Personally, I don't have anything wrong with this method of teaching, except for when the professor expects us to only use his lectures as a learning guide and does not use a book...at all.
With that said, here is one of the fucking problems I absolutely cannot figure out. I understand what the questions are asking for (essentially), but cannot figure out how to solve the questions algebraically.

I have a feeling that the food is supposed to be the inferior good and that housing is supposed to be the luxury item, but what I've attempted to figure out mathematically is showing the opposite, if I'm doing it correctly that is.
