Eclipse magic gate question

I was looking for a larger memory stick for the Eclipse CD8445 that i just bought (that's on its way:naughty: ) and i wasnt sure which one to get so i called up Eclipse tech support.

I was lead to believe it would take any capacity memory stick in the right format and i could get MP3's on it but it seems like i was lied to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif The guy that i talked to said it will only take UP TO 128mb and it wont play MP3's from the memory stick.

Is this the case?!?

vary true it is limited on the size of memory and no in no way will you get mp3 to work on it.

Thats what i was thinking...

He said it would play ATRAC3 or somthing like that but i havent looked that up yet. I think its a different format for music files but i dont know how it compares to MP3.

Does anyone have the head unit installed that knows for sure if MP3's are a no go?

I found this on Atrac3. Its a sony format which i find interesting considering its compatable with a Fujitsu-ten deck.

yeah its a sony format that was created for the minidisc. i hated it back then, and i hate it now.

'tis true. Eclipse going this route with their thumbdrives essentially makes it useless for playing music. The only thing the usb thumbdrive is really useful for is uploading areashot information and transferring tuned settings from eclipse's website to the deck (both of which could be done with burned cd's anyway)

x2 Ive only ever used the mem stick for transferring settings onto the hu.

Has anyone tried loading ATRAC3 files on the **** thing to see if it works? I searched "ATRAC3" and found some shit but it didnt seem like anyone used it for that.
