I am in the same boat here. I am deciding between the 5000 and the 8445. From what i hear the 8445 if used with 2 different amps it splits the voltage inbetween the two, but that is just what i've heard. I think I am going with the 5000 though.

Where did you hear this from?

How on earth would it know if you were using two different amps?

What if you were using ONE 4 channel amp and running two pairs of RCA's to it, how could it tell?

Or better yet.......A 5 channel with 3 sets of RCA's

For me it came down to price.

550ish for the 5000 versus 200 shipped for the 8445
