I posted this on mazda3forums as well but figured i'd put it up here as well:
I've been in touch with eclipse tech support and it just so happens that one of their tech's has a mazda3 so he was able to send me the steering wheel control file that will allow me to integrate the unit directly into my controls without having to use the stupid Pac swi-ecl unit i bought before i knew this. The pac thing works like garbage-with the head unit steering wheel wires hooked right into the factory harness the controls work like a dream! Only thing that does not work is the mute button which i can handle. If anyone has any use for this let me know and i can send you instructions and the file
