ebay scam gone wrong?

i recently sold a piece of personal studio equipment (http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=230349), i had it listed on a few places, one of which was ebay.

yesterday i'm at work and i get 2 paypal payments for $300+ dollars both within hours of each other, im like WTF? i check the details in paypal and it's for this item, i was like hmm, thats interesting, i took the item down over a week ago as i sold it locally.

so i check my email again today while at work and ****it if i don't have 2 more payments for $400 dollars...im like man, i didn't have this much luck selling one of them, and as of today i've sold 4...so there is nearly $1500 in my paypal account, so i got a hold of paypal and told them that something was wrong, i had pulled the item weeks ago etc. i also notified ebay...

paypal had me change all of my account info and blah blah...then ebay contacts me and informs me that there is a scam going around where someone can clone your adds using some kind of software, and they have access to your ebay account info and they generally just change the personal info so that they reap the benefits and everything else looks normal. the only problem is this retard forgot to change the paypal address from mine to his/hers...

so yay for getting free scammed money and not breaking the law...

figured i would share that, might happen to someone else...

oh yea def. i wouldn't keep it man...i never thought that i would be able to...i didn't mean it like YAY I GOT FREE LOOT...sucks to be on the end of a scam...as many of us around here know...

I remeber there was that other scam where someone tells u they'll pay u much more then u have listed on ebay if u just give them ur PPal account, u get the money, sent the item, then they backcharge and u end up without the item + w/e amount of money u owe Ppal now too. Lucky u didnt get scammed by that one.

man i'm starting to think that it would have been easier to keep the $$$ and not tell anyone...paypal is comprised of noting but retards in a cardboard box...and eBay, well they at least have a building with windows and desks...but still, equally as inept...

How did/do they get your account info, just by cloning the ad? There is something they arent telling you. Or maybe I just dont get it.

Why wouldnt they just make the same ebay ad? It seems like it would be a lot easier? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif But then again I dont use ebay much so I guess I wouldnt understand.

its not crystal clear to me just yet, but now i understand that they got my login information and they use this software to generate the exact same add on another server, i guess...i dont know, but i changed everything...nothing is safe man...fhuckin haxors...
