I've never had an Earthquake amp, so I can't comment on them, but I've owned a few of their subs over the years. Right now I have a pair of old school-ish 15" Magmas that're being used in my friend's Tahoe. It's been so long since I installed the subs, or even looked in the back of the Tahoe, that I can't even remember what kind of amps he has. I distinctly remember installing a pair of monoblocks. I'm thinking they're either MRP-M500's or ZX500.1's, but don't hold me to that.
I found the subs, in a beat to shit enclosure, at a local pawn shop. I gave the enclosure quite a bit of TLC and it turned out really clean looking. It's around 4 cubes sealed and the subs seem to like it. I had intentions of immediately loaning these to my friend, so I didn't spend very much time looking up specs. I'd really like to see what these things can do in a ported enclosure on more than rated power, but I really don't know if they're suited for that. Anyway, they sound clean, get loud and don't need very much power. If I had to complain about them, I'd say they're ugly. The ugliness is due to a full cone dustcap that makes the sub look like a flat piston. That's about all I can think of as far as criticism is concerned.
When/if they ever go down, they might just be my first custom built subs. I'd imagine the 3" coil and the baskets would be compatible with a lot of different soft parts. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. If memory serves, I think they were around $100 with the enclosure. That's tough to beat for a pair of functional 15" subs that were built tough in the USA...
