I have been in couple of car audio shops near Los angeles and couple of forums online reading about Dynaudio comps. the one i liked is the Esotec 242.

anyhow, what i found out is that people are saying the Dynaudio Crossovers **** and if you want Dynaudio speakers you should go active.

What i want to know from people that have experience with Dynaudio, is it true that the Dynaudio Crossovers ****??

BTW: is 150W per side fine for Esotec 242 ???

I'd agree the xovers included are lack luster and dont do the drivers justice. BUT....the question is, would you really run the passives with a comp set of that caliber? I would sure hope not.

The xovers are the same. I wouldn't say they ****. They're designed for the speakers, not our mental image of what should be, example: the higher the slope, the better.

The 6/12 dB/oct slopes is what they claim is perfect for their speakers, not what others have been brainwashed into thinking that steeper is better.

I didn't care for them for the reason of the Poly-silicon switch they use on the tweeter. If it gets to hot, it cuts back the power going to the tweeter to protect it. The Dyns aren't ment to be played at full tilt.

For that reason and that reason alone is why I went active.

150w per side would be fine, but that's the limit, restricted by the xover.

I wish I had my set still.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The 242 passive crossover ain't ****. I'm currently the 242 passive and it sound awesome. If you can run active, than by all mean do it. It will sound better. But you don't have to run active to get incredible sound from the Dynaudio speakers.

ive heard so many people say that the weak link is the crossover, and that makes me wanna forget Dynaudio idea and just get the CS 465.25 GERMANIUM or CS 265.25 GERMANIUM and add a Peerless SLS 8inch and call it a day.

I have a pretty good idea how to run active but i dont know what equipment to get, I mean i know i need a some kind of a crossover or a DSP or something like that before the amps.

cause as far as passive goes, I know someone with germs +peerles SLS 8inch powered by a zapco 100.4 and it sounded niiiicccceee. plus i need a solid midbass if i wanna do a IB set up with either 1 12inch Idmax or 2 12inch Idq's

****? You guys are high! They are easily one of the best crossovers made... ever. They are transparent and cyrstal clear. If your complaining about the protection circuit, then you have already exceeded thier design. Move up to a more powerfull set. They are refrence grade speakers. Made to sound great. Not concert drivers to rip your head off.

Please show me better crossovers at any price?
