duraliner on birch, to prime or not to prime?

well im duralining a box either this weekend or next. i herd a lot about having problems with duraliners chipping off MDF since its soo smooth. now granted good birch is pretty smooth, or should i say its not like some normal plywood, would it be better to prime the birch or leave it raw?

I don't have any experience with it, but I say throw a coat of primer on it. Better safe than sorry

I've only used the spray on type of liner, not the roll on, but my advice would be to prime it well and try to put it on thick. You can do a few coats during one sitting without fully drying it(not too many or itstarts to get uneven and lose the texture) but then go back and put on another few coats after letting it dry fully. It ends up drying a lot thinner than it would appear when it is wet. I've also found that it takes several cans to get good results with the spray on kind for bigger subs or tower speakers.

im going to get the roll on kind. thanks for the advice. its a box for 2 DD9910s. im half tempted to resin the inside aswell.
