i had a some what of a friend bought two mtx 15 9500 subs and powered it used one boss 1600 watt amp with the gain up to 3/4 of the way. i was like dude buy a better amp cause you are going to clip it to death

which he did about a month later, and traded the other sub for a ps2

what do yall have to think about this and what if any have yall seen do this??

umm, the MTX 9500's should pretty much take a fully clipped signal from any BOSS amp...

Amps can put out 2x their RMS while clipping, plus the driver wont' be seeing full excursion, meaning it was taking a full 1000 watts without properly cooling. More than possible for him to blow it.
