I always love the level of racism that is expressed on the forum. Robbery of pharmacies are in record levels across the nation, mainly because of addicts. Addiction doesn't affect any one race greater then the next. I won't go into which race is more addicted to drugs because it's not an issue.

Recommend 0 By Eva Ruth Moravec - Express-News Authorities have identified a 49-year-old man who was fatally shot while attempting to rob a pharmacy on the Northwest Side.

Gilbert Frank Celis died of a gunshot wound to the chest on Wednesday at about 10 a.m., when he walked into the Babcock Square Pharmacy, handed an employee a hold-up note that demanded the narcotic drug OxyContin and money, and pointed a cocked revolver at the pharmacy’s owner, police said.

According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, the pharmacy’s owner, Bill Wynn, grabbed a gun he kept in the pharmacy for protection. When Celis saw Wynn’s gun, McManus said he uttered his last words: “Let’s get it on.”

Witnesses heard two gun shots, and McManus said Celis was shot at point-blank range. Wynn was in fear of his life, McManus said, who classified the shooting as a justifiable homicide

Guess what the race was of this would be robber who lost his life chasing the oxycontin dream....

But I wonder if you could find a place that has an equal % of three races lets say whites mexicans and blacks what the arrest and conviction rate would be for violent crimes. Self defense, no it wasn't. Actually had he shot the kid dead the first time, I would agree that it was self defense. It was what he did after he returned that made his action a criminal act. Sad to say but now he's going to jail for quite some time unless he has an excellent defense lawyer.

Yes, I read what was reported and I can't speak for the NAACP. Nor can I speak for the ACLU who believes that this could be interpreted as an act of murder. My comments in regards to racist referred to the wonderful posts. My responses in no way advocate for whites, blacks or latinos. My response is a humane response that reflected on the basic concepts of ethics and morality. Yes, the two can dance together without conflict given the right set of circumstances. Now, if you'd like to have this discussion on a rational level I'd be more then happy to continue but we may alienate the current audience.

I agree but even in war there is a limit. the guy was not a treat once he was down and disarmed. If he had kept him at gunpoint then this article would be calling him a hero.

And when you consider that blacks make up what 15% of the population? And what percent of that are black males of teen age or older just making a stab at it a third so that would be 5%?

All I know is when I lived in the city you could walk your kids through my moms neighborhood night or day no matter what color you were, and just be fine. It was 99.9 percent white.

But I lived just east of the black neighborhood and heaven help you if your car broke down driving through.

I'm against any form of crime. I prefer not to have a crime committed against me. If you steal from me, threaten my life or commit any acts of violence directed at me--I believe a person should be prosecuted.

If you pull a gun on me and God allows me to shoot you dead in self defense, justice was served. The Great Republic of Texas afford it's citizens the right to protect themselves if their lives, or a family member is in immediate harm. I'm all for it. NOW, what I am not for is cold blooded senseless killing. If you rob any person, fate dishes out your punishment.
