Dropping to 10's. What to do

My friend's car is dropping to 10.8's ish when playing bassy songs. Such as blueberry. It was the only song I saw him play, I can't imagine what hypnotize does. I told him before he got the system he would need a second batt, but instead he got a cap. It obviously isn't helping at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif. But I told him that dropping to 10's is horrible for his car and amp.

Here's his setup:



We took that today. His sub's are bottoming out a little bit, so we backed the amp off right after that. I didn't show the cap in that video, but he's in the 10's - mid 11's.

My question is, what is going to go first on his car? How long do you think he has till something does?

I need more help convincing him. Thanks guys.

Edit: It's a Honda Del Sol. No electrical upgrades, and not sure of the alt.

You can hear them bottoming out. Either way the gains were turned down after. And thanks for the help.

does he have a stock battery? trying just upgrading the stock batt to a deep cycle. my stinger spv35, matched with my 3 farad stinger cap and my voltage never drops below 12. usually stays between 14.4-13. im running about 1400 rms total.

and that spv35 should be a direct drop in. stingers batt for honda/acuras

oh yeah, and in a 2005 civic. i think 70 amp alt, maybe 80 so not big at all.

yeah.... get a second battery and big 3 that bitty....

learn to tune the gain appropriately and build a better box for those sweet *** subs...

I didn't tune it. He had it installed at ABC warehouse 20 mins earlier, and rode over to my house to show me. And it's a pre-fab box. I'm convincing him to go fisher ported.

i think those on ebay are the cheapest ive seen them, but wouldnt hurt to do a little searching though. might be able to find it a little less but probably not much.

at least a couple of yellow tops if not a HC 1800 or 2400 even the SP would help tons

Tell him his amp will make 20-40 percent more power at 14v than at 10v

then if he doesnt listen you get some baby powder on your Rt hand bring it way back over your Rt shoulder as far as you can reach.....

and slap him with it. then say "beootch you better listen when Im talking to you"

my girls system runs her voltage to 10 volts all the time and i am trying to convince her of that as well. told her 100 dollar batt or a hell of alot to replace the cpu, you pick.. shes stubborn.

He just got his amp back after my other friend blew it after he had it 2 days. It was gone for a month. It would **** for him to blow it again.

If the cap is what reading you're going off of his voltage isn't dropping in the car itself. The digital reading on the cap is a reading of the voltage stored in the capacitor, not the car.

It is. I didn't realize that. I'll check his front battery though then tonight with my DMM when he comes over. Then I'll update.

And I'm uploading a video of my sub now. I'll post it in the video section in 20 mins when it's done.

i dont know about that. on my civic ive got my cap in the trunk and voltmeter on the bat and they are always within .3 or each other...... so that reading off the cap might not be that far off.
