drivers license is suspended?

i got in an accident back in march. i got a ticket for the accident as well since it was my fault. so i hired a lawyer to get the ticket dismissed for me. he said he went to the first court date back in may and got a deferal date. i then left for az for over a month and constantly called. i was told several times that there was a new date but they didnt know when. now i get home and open mail and find a letter from the state, nc, saying starting in aug my license is suspended bc i failed to appear at my initial court date.

i can't remember the last time i had a license...its been suspended for years....i just drive pretty careful now....and i know all the local cops so i don't have much to worry about...

I think you should try to get your money from lawyer, but don't know how easy that will be

ya you kinda have to show up to your court dates. lawyer or not.

he told me i didnt have to since he was just going to get a continuance.

im so pissed. the reason i chose him was bc he got my friend out of two tickets, one for no insurance and causing an accidnet and the second for going over 20 mph over the speed limit. i guess ill hvae to wait til tomorow to find out.

there is no need for a thread...speak to him and he can reinsate the license based upon a clerical error, no worries.

No you don't. That's not true at all.

For an initial court appearance on something like that it would just be the arraignment. (sp?)

So long as there is legal representation there willing to be designated your counsel of record then that's sufficient.

Should it ever get to the point of a trial your butt better be there but it's not always necessary to be there if you have a lawyer to represent you.

I think you should try to get your money from lawyer, but don't know how easy that will be

if it's YOUR fault, you should NOT fight a ticket. it wont get you anywhere. and now your even more ****ed.

is there any chance that your in catawba county? if so i know what lawyer your talking about. ive got the same problem with my lawyer right now. ive had problems with him in the past. hes a good lawyer but has way to many clients to keep up with so **** happens. he always gets it fixed tho. i lost my license for over a year b/c of a wreck that wasnt my fault. finally got them back in sept and now i have 3 letters from the DMV telling me i didnt go to court so they are suspending my license again. but lawyer will get it taken care of im sure. just workk with him.

asbass: the reason im tryign to get it dismissed is bc my insurance will allow one but not both. so if i get the ticket dismissed the accident is forgiven. plus its a bs ticket adn this lawyer has gotten my friends out of worse.
