alright well right now I'm downloading an xbox game. How does this work to be able to play it on an xbox though, without modding. I know xbox's are picky about what cd's they read but they read the cd-rw i have, or i could pick up some dvd-r also to fit the game on. Do I just burn the iso as an image? Thanks

You have to have a mod chip. Unless you want to do the audio hack which takes forever. (and you have to do it each time)

Save the time, buy a mod chip - even a solderless one that works!!!!!!!!! Some of the solderless don't work right if you move around your xbox a lot (for system link at someone else's house.

I'm in the same spot as you and I wanna play copied games, copy dvds and cds to the harddrive but you do need a modchip. It's worth the $50 bucks or whatever it costs you. Because think about it:

You can goto a movie rental place, pick up the game, bring it home and copy it straight to your harddrive and play it all you want for about 3 bucks. You'll easily save your money after that. Same with dvds and cds. You can also get emulators and play NES, SNES, 64, Genesis and plenty of others on the xbox.

The only bad this is Xbox Live. You need to turn off the modchip to play on it (which is easy, but if you don't you'll get banned) and some harddrives get you banned from XBL permanatly too (unless you find another eeprom from another xbox that isn't going to ever use XBL.)

If ya want more help just message me on aim/msn/yahoo and I'll help ya out.

The internet only. They're semi-illegal (microsoft doesn't like em) - thats why you get banned for modding. But make sure it's from a company that sells originals - there are plenty of fakes. Drop me a line and I'll help you out. I'm still looking myself.

i use to have a modded xbox with an xecuter 2.3 lite +. Sold it though for $300 so I made a good profit. Now I just want to learn how without modding. I'm sure there is a way, especially using ftp.

i still dont know how to ftp to my xbox using a router (using a router requires no crossover cable)
Look in your routers DHCP table to get your Xbox's IP. Then from a command prompt just typeftp XBOX_IP

Even easier if you have a static IP on your xbox.
