Down Fire or up fire

I'm building a box to fit two 12" type r's in my 99 extended cab silverado. I want to put the box under the back seat, so my question is should I do down fire or up firing enclosure? The reason I was to do down fire is because I had my last subs stolen so if I do down firing enclosure and get the box secured right it would be impossible to take the subs without taking out the box. If they were up firing subs, I have a feeling that a thief would just unscrew them or thrash em, which I why I would want to do down firing subs. If I did down firing enclosure, how much space do I need between the subs and floor? and would I need to dynamat the floor?
