Was the best thing i did in the last year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Seriously, since the temperature sucks and i can't really have more listening time without driving the same block around again and again. If i could, I would still be listening to my new subs, coz they are fawkin' nice.

So I got my package from Fedex this morning at 8h... i woke up 5min before that, premonition i guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Next to a crappy pioneer sub

Guess what they are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The subs are smaller than i tought. I had an 18inch prior, before today it was two 15inch and now i'm back to what i had the most, 12incher. They are pretty heavy for for what they look. First time with alum cone and they look a lot more fragile (sp???)

I'll do listen to them some more but so far, i'm more than impress. I'm hearing "hidden" content to some track i could only ear before with my 18inch Q. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I was expecting a small loss in db since i was going from a dual 15inch sub setup to a 12inch.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I'm already hitting higher on my epic-160 with only 10min of play on track much lower than with my Aq sd2.5s. They were not bad, i only didn't have the airspace and was looking to get some trunk space. I'm hitting 142 on echo wich is in the 30s if i remember well. I was doing 139 with the Aqs. The ex-owner of the epic said it was 1 db under the tl after testing with both. so 143 on echo with an bxi2006d doesn't sound too bad. Oh, box tuning is 29.5hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I'll add the box building pics and some video in my build log when the weather will change a little. It's fawking raining for the 1000th time this summer.

Those TC-9s look like they're in good condition.
pics aren't showing it, but the cone has some small dents and one have red primer:confused: like if the paint was dissepearing. Not too bad, but not mint either. All those used pictured on the web seems to have dent. Alum got its neg side i guess

yup
and u need more power
Not sure I would agree with that. In the proper enclosure that driver will do it's thing with as little as 600 watts. Better to build a more efficient enclosure than to run into thermal compression or possibly thermal failure.

OP, learn the mechanical limits of that driver and respect them or you will damage the cone.

it will move with 600wrms, it will move more with 1500wrms. enclosure matters, but the sub can take a good amount of power

More power may come later but for now it does the job. Anyway one of the mounting hole seems a little too small so the sub won't get flat 100% on the box. I sanded it like 30min this morning under the rain. I need some more and i'm pretty sure with everything 100% sealed i'll expect to gain at least a db from that and some more maybe with higher hittin songs

for power, i would need more batt or high output alt and they cost a lot for hyundais cars. I'm not working a lot and i'll be moving out (see the small room). I'm finishing University soon so money won't be a problem in a year or so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

425 watts will bring that driver to Xmax and with that amount of power you will already be experiencing thermal compression if it's for a prolonged period. Stick that driver in a smaller box so that it can "handle" more power and the only thing you're doing is fighting physics. The coil is rated at 800 and yes it can absorb more but the point of that headroom is to avoid thermal compression to preserve dynamics.

The ssf is off, with +/- 900 watts each they get some nice excurtions in 4ft net @ 29.5hz. Pushing it?
That's a pretty decent approach save for the SSF being off. That's about what they want to see for airspace and that tuning is a nice medium for nasty lows and a good punch. Just be careful, they are SQ drivers with the ability to get loud, not SPL drivers set for constant abuse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Don't worry i wasn't looking for spl, specialy with the cone area downgrade.

I'm more than impress with the output, i wasn't expecting them to be that loud, in such low end bass tracks.

I'll check what they can hit at 20hz with a lot of care. My ad's were doing 132.
