1) the government only has price floors, not price ceilings on gasoline.

2) If you think this is guarenteed, you may like DUG as a play. It is ETF that shorts gas/oil etc. Would be a great play if you knew prices would drop later in the year.

If you got a 4 cylinder you still got some time. I've driven my car both a 92 camry and an '01 accord for like 45 miles after the light has come on...i messed up once and had a rental, it was a v6 and the car stopped on the freeway, good thing i was right by the gas station.

not buying gas for 1 day does nothing. everything they lose today, they'll make tomorrow or the next day. no big company does book keeping by the day.
