Raising a dog, particularly a puppy while in college in an apartment is tough. I had a bloodhound puppy awhile back and I did a good job at raising him, but with me leaving for class and going to parties once in awhile I felt bad leaving him in my apartment. I gave him away to a nice young family feeling like it would be better for him. Of course, I didn't get him under the best circumstances as I was having personal issues. Giving him away I think may have hurt me worse than keeping him. Just a little advice. Right now I have 2 dachshunds back at home. I love dachshunds a lot. They would be a good choice if you lived in a small apartment. Some do have separation anxiety though, so if you are gone a lot they might not be the best choice. When I graduate I will probably get another one. Although, I am looking for a Plott Hound, even though my only chance of finding one is if I drive out to the Carolina's. Doberman's and German Shepherds are some more of my personal favorites. Basset's, Scotty's and Corgi's are also up there on my list.
