not sure what all vehicles they will work on but I am having a dual alternator bracket made for my 2000 Durango and thought may be some others would be interested in one? Mine is a 5.2L and that is all I can guarantee fitment on is the 5.2L durango but i KNOW there are many others it would work on. the only "modification" needed would be a longer belt (obviously) and a cold air intake, you might have to bend the AC lines and dipstick a little too. The air box was just in the way so I removed it and put a cold air intake on there for plenty of space, MIGHT work with the factory air box, I can check that out in a couple days when they give me the prototype.

the second alternator would have to be a GM large case with the mounting points directly across from each other because that is what they are making mine for. those are of course one of the cheapest alternators anyways so that works out well too. this is the case that would be used with this bracket http://www.alternatorparts.com/10-si-1a.jpg

you will have to use your imagination but this is basically where the second alt. would sit. don't worry about how close it looks in spots, there is a solid 3" plus all the way around the second alt, no clearance issues in ANY way. It would obviously sit back a little ways and line up with all the stock pulleys, my arm was getting tired trying to hold that fat hog in there and take a picture so....

price depends on the material used but I am thinking 1/4" stainless would work well and that would probably make them be around $75~ each. These are laser CNC cut so they will look nice and polishing will be available at a small cost as well...

you know you can get a 160amp alt for like $40 right? They came on like 01-03 durango 5.9 firetruck package, im running one on my 96 intrepid 3.3, just a fyi, cause i probably would have just put one of those on and added a 2nd, all you would have to do is piggyback the field wires, the small case nippo is used on a ton of different chrysler engines, so for like $80 you would have 320amps. But the AD244 bolts on the same as well and is a good choice, you can find them in a 145amp version and the boneyard charges like $40 each

yeah, but some people need real power... I have the 160 amp version on there already and am adding my O.G. 300A... not sure what you mean by "I probably would have just put one of those on and added a second" because that is what I am offering but for use with a much cheaper GM alt.... A stock type NICE H.O. dodge alt will cost you quite a bit more than a GM H.O. will...

I meant its what I would have done cause I am a cheapass lol, I dont need that amperage right now but look forward to your bracket pics, I would really like to pick up a durango and put a big stereo in it but cant right now, Im a dodge guy mostly, and you are right a HO GM alt is far more common, you should be able to fit one where the stock alt is, the Jeep guys do it (same nippo alt), sometimes they have to grand the bracket a lil but then you could have 2 of the AD244 alts

AH.... I was like WTF are you talking about LOL.... didn't know about the AD244 fitting in there, might replace the 160A stocker with one of those, we tested one and got over 125A at idle, and like 250A max (around 5500 engine RPM with the stock pulley size) IIRC correctly

is there going to be an idler in between the alts?
probably not. Where the second alt. sits, there is plenty of belt/pulley contact, however it would be as simple as drilling/tapping a hole if one is needed.

they are making a "prototype" out of some regular 1/8" steel for test fitting and everything which should be ready tomorrow, may be wednesday morning. Pretty good since I was only over there for about an hour today so they could get measurements and make a cardboard template.

here is a link about the gm alt on jeeps, like I said they use the same alt as you, I would just take your stocker off and see how it fits

Larger alternator for 94 YJ - JeepForum.com

then get a pair of gm alts and an external regulator to control them, dont think the chrysler electronics will work, on problem is that you cel light would be on cause the computer would think something is wrong

the alt on my car is up at the top too but on the other side, where does the bracket bolt to exacly

it bolts to the stock alternator bracket... I am horrible with the MS Paint but it basically looks like below, just much nicer and slightly different... honesty, even the cardboard template looked pretty **** nice... LOL

cant wait to see it, may work on my car, I had planned on going up to like 3000w and making my konaki an 18 but with that big box I may be strapped for space battery wise in the trunk, I need to poke around under my hood again and size it up
