Do you actually ENJOY your career??

Although quite annoying, competition is healthy. IME the biggest pain in the *** experiences are the ones you really learn from. Do it enough times, and you will find out if you really like what you do or not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Also consider the fact that at pretty much any job (Just Over Broke) the employeer pays you just enough so that you don't quit, while the employee works just hard enough that they don't get fired. Admit it or not, that is the fair majority of the American work force as most people are pretty dissatisfied with their job.
Theres a difference between competitive pricing and price gouging though. When a product is sold UNauthorized online and below or at my dealer cost, how else can I properly handle that? Nowadays the typical consumer could care less about a warranty or even first class service. They would unfortunately rather focus their attention on the bottom line.

BTW...A 'job' is nothing but work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I like the career that I have chosen. Its as easy as the ABC's. The only times that are hard is when you go through a major staff change, then everyone has the same questions over and over. But it is my job to "babysit" and get this staff turned into an all-knowing machine. I am a restaraunt manager. I get paid well, and wouldn't dream of another place to work at the moment.

This is more for the people who have degress and are working in the field that they studied in. Do you guys actually enjoy your career. For example, do any of you actually look forward to work, or does it not bother you going back in on Monday knowing that you got another 5 days until your next day off? Reason I ask is because there is nothing that I could study for that I would actually want to do for a living. If it were my way, I would race motorcycles, build subs, or be a test driver for a big automotive company. But becoming one of those things is next to impossible. Instead I have the option of studying computer software engineering, or electrical engineering and all those other things that sound boring as hell. How easy is it to open your own business? I've always wanted to work for myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Agreed. But remember, you are not just selling speakers. You are selling knowledge, support, customer service, etc. Those who want to buy that with their money will find their way to you. I guarantee it. Those who don't, won't. Why worry about what you don't have (typical consumers) and focus on what you do have: consumers who value really what you are really selling. Just another way of looking at the situation I guess. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My point exactly. But do you think Michaelangelo would have said that it was a 'job' to paint the ceiling at the Systine Chapel? Point is: you don't have to go to a JOB to get paid for what you really want to do. And if you really love what you do, it feels more like play than work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you have a degree in business?

I was originally going to go into med-school and then got caught up with some drug usage (light) including marijuana and DMT, and I got a broader sense of what life is really about. I've decided not to go to medschool simply because my dreams upon entering college were to study a lot, get into med school, work a shit load until I was 60 years old, and have a shit load of cash, a big house, nice cars, etc, and those were all wrong. I believe that one should enjoy the most of life. Being wealthy isn't about having the best cars, biggest house, or a lot of cash, being wealthy is loving what you do and enjoying as much of everything that you can. I'm tired of how society in today's world or more commonly in the U.S. plagues the youth of today. Society perpetuates this "American Dream" that everybody should go to college, study countless hours by burrying your head in books, and eventually get a job you won't enjoy in several years. SOME people however do enjoy their jobs after studying in college, and I praise that, but more often, millions of people every year get stuck in jobs they can't stand years down the road and ask the question to themselves during their "mid-life crisis", "What could I have done to be completely satisfied with myself and what could I have done to NOT get myself in this rut." Now I'm not saying or condoning people should drop out of college or just party all of the time, I'm just saying people are put on this earth for more than just working and earning a lot of money. We should try to enjoy every minute of our lives, because in reality, life is short. You gotta do what you gotta do in terms of whatever makes you happy with your life. For some people, this comes easy and have great lives, for others, this task is difficult next to impossible, and often a lot of times people don't ever find it is what they want to do with their life.

Your absolutely right, but I cannot put a sign on the door to stop walk-ins from being noobs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Also remember retail is just one of my businesses now.... Im also Northeast-midatlantic rep for several of the manufacturers I currently carry at retail level. So I get to solicit not so bright retailers sometimes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This explains the success of wal-mart, Lowe's, etc. Sure we could hire 10 or 20 more people to better serve the customer, but why when we can make more money by having less staff. What's the consumer to do when we run all the businesses that did provide that service out of business. Maybe one day consumer

s will not focus as much on price as they do service before and after the sale.

I hate my job right now in IT even though it's so easy. I'm currently in school doing IT, but I really don't see the point of it since IT is one of the fields you can be successful in without having a degree. Computer science jobs don't pay very well and neither do any of the jobs in IT.

It's hard deciding whether or not to stay in college or go into the workforce because in my experience, the pay will be almost the same (depends on where you go and your experience mainly).

I dont have a career. Well I have done loss assest protection for security companys over 10 years, but it didnt take a college education and I really wouldnt quailify as a career. I like it cause it is very simple and I get paid decent, nothing outstanding, but I live with in my means and I am still happy. So that is all that matters in the end.

x2 I agree.

As for me, I work at CC installing and go to school (comm. college). I love working at CC and want to do it for a little while longer. I love going to work everyday plus I work with some cool people. As for later on I dont know what I want to do, and I dont want to think about it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif . I know I love to work on cars tho.
