Do Those Temorary Fillings Work?

Last night while chewing gum one of my fillings popped out of my tooth, it's not exactly new to me because it's happened probably 6 times now (retarded dentist), but I actually went before when they fell out, now I don't even go to the dentist...

I figured, since I can't have someone else do it, I can try and do it myself. I searched some online and it looks like they sell some kind of putty that you stick in the tooth and it hardens up, basically like a new filling. What I'm wondering is do these things really work? Like stay in for at least a couple months? The tooth is pretty much dead so there isn't exposed nerve in there anymore, so I doesn't hurt at all, but having a huge hole in your tooth gets annoying, especially when food gets in it.

I still have the old filling, if it matters.

I used the stuff. I have to keep it out of my teeth for 6 months so I can have false teeth (only 20years old)... It does work, and works well, especially if you have nerves showing.

Yeah, like I said it doesn't hurt, and this particular tooth has been pretty much completely ground out because it's the 4th time a filling has come out in it. The nerve is dead so it doesn't hurt to touch it.
