Clean power is when your AC voltage from the headunit (preout) matches with the input voltage on the amplifier (gain) Music has peaks and valley's ~ a clean song will not have a square waveform which is clipping. Clipping creates heat and kills drivers. Clipping will kills subs long before it does any damage to the amp. Custom recones are just that... custom spiders, better former, coil, and other supporting parts. Check out PSI Audio, Corey SPLAUDIO, etc. for custom recones. Setting the amp with an Oscope would insure you have a clean signal. With a clean signal you can put significantly more power to the driver, you will reach mechanical limits before thermal with a clean signal. You were at an advantage. You need something to unload the port, you used the rear of the trunk. Unless the guys who were facing into the cabin had them fully sealed off from the trunk and had large cone area displacement, they were at a disadvantage.
