distro block gauges

So im trying to wire my system and have wire but am concerned it might not be best for what im now trying to do, or that I should have ran a thicker gauge power cable.

I have 4 gauge running to a distro block which splits up to a 500w mono, and a 200w 4 way. I was going to just do 8 gauge to both of them, but was wondering if 8 was thick enough for the 500watt amp. then I thought that I would run 8 gauge to the 200w amp, and 4 to the 500w amp, but then stareted to wonder if it was a good idea to use different gauges out of the block.

and lastly, does the ground gauge have to match up with the power cable gauge?

super duper thanks to those with advice!
