Disconnecting L or R RCA makes bass so much louder and cleaner

I'm using an LC2i to convert my signal to RCA. When i have both R and L RCA cables connected, the bass is really sloppy/quieter. When i disconnect the L or R, the bass gets louder and a thousand times cleaner.

Is this normal?

probably have the LC2 connected out of phase.

If i have one of either in, it works great. Its when i combine L and R that it becomes sloppy

^^ this....double check the polarity of the wiring on the LC2

I think i do have the L wired backwards. Ill go check that tomorrow when im able to play the music at loud volumes without waking my household
