Did the "big 3"....it's incredible

I performed the big 3 on my 300zx tt and the results amazed me. Before I was running one Alpine MRD-M605 (driving two Kappa Perfect 10's at 300w each) and one Alpine MRV-F345 (driving some cheap sony 4-ways front and rear) . I switched to two Alpine MRD-M605's (driving RE SE 10's at 600w each) and one Alpine MRV-F545 (driving PG RSD's active w/o rear fill). I also added an electric fan from my clutch driven fan.

My voltage used to drop to 13.2v at the ECU and 12.3v at the amp, which was bad because my amps wattage drops as voltage drops. So I was NOT making the power I thought I was. Now, running the stereo full tilt, at idle, with the headlights and fan running I am measuring 14.1v at the ECU and 13.6v at my amps.

It is night and day difference. My car also turns over faster and easier on the original 17 year old starter.

Good for you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And see? No cap needed... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah, I am a diy guy for just that purpose. In all the mods I have done on my 300zx, the only thing I had a shop do was the alignment. Besides, if you diy, you get twice the amount of "stuff" since you aren't paying anybody for labor.

It was nice to be able to check my voltages before and after and KNOW it wasn't just a placebo effect.

Let this be a lesson for those who are in the market for a cap... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ya really, a valuable lesson. Well two really. First being upgrade everything else before even considering a cap. The second being that you should post ***** pics of your girlfriend and/or mom in appreciation of our help.

With that much improvement on voltage, you'll likely hear an audible improvement on transients in the music.
Sadly, I probably won't be able to tell that benefit because the poor quality of my previous install. I was using some cheap sony xplod 4-ways in some abs door panels that had HUGE gaps and no deadening. All I had was bass from the subs and ear bleeding treble from the 3 "super tweeters". No mids whatsoever. It was horrible.

The difference between better speakers being run active, with better voltage and a cleaner signal, and better tuning. It is blowing my mind.

ok please dont laugh its not a joke.......but could someone pm me with an answer

whats the BIG3 i see alot talking bout it and i have always used caps to help with headlight dim
The big 3 can be found as a sticky at the top of the electrical page.
