I'm about to be done buildin my box, but I wanna know if I screwed up...the subs are on top and the port is coming out the bottom facing the back...well the port is 31 inches long and the box is only 32 inches deep so I made the port 26 inches long and 5 inches up ... that leaves 4.5 inches from the back wall; however, the rest of the port is 5 inches (the part that you can look into from the back of the box) ... did I screw up too bad??....and I did my port tuning based on the 5 inches. So what do you guys say I should do if I messed up???

Id fix it so that your port length is a consistant width the whole way through. Also, your port length is not correct. Its confusing, but you have to like add your calculations to the middle of the port. Probably doesnt make sense, but its early, and someone will be along shortly to explain better.

What Mr. Fisher is saying is that you cannot measure the port length using the length of the wood, as the port is longer that way. You must measure where the port width is equal throughout, which is straight down the midle of the port width. This will make the actual wood port shorter, but the actual port length correct.

This is my first box build so i'm kinda confused on what the last few posts where saying. My port is 46.5" wide because the box is 48 inches wide (3/4" on each side due to wood)

those little peices of wood in the port are just temporarily to support the port

My box isnt glued i just put it all together to make sure everything lined up first...and i plan on rounding the part of the port that comes up and the joint where the two peices meet for better airflow

Thanks Dave, that's exactly what i was trying to say.
Ain't no thang, I don't think he needs to bother himself with end correction though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Sounds like a plan, let me know how it turns out for you. Wish they would sticky that thread. Cause I link it every now and again to someone. Oh well.
