Did big 3 and my battery leaked!!!

Okay yesterday i did the big 3 cable install on my 94 ***** am with lt1 engine, well it was running great and then one of the wires was too close to the alternator belt and got caught up, no big deal just a few gouges so i was going to repair that when i heard a hissing sound and the battery was leaking under the neg battery terminal. Its an optima red top. Now i dont think it was acid, from reading up on it, if the alternator is overcharging the battery it can cause the water to boil in it, so what do i do now to fix this??? Is the battery toast or what?

I've never had a belt catch on a cable before, but that sounds like a lot of stress at one instant - maybe it pulled the terminal and damaged the battery?

Regardless, run your cables safely so that doesn't happen again.

yea i fixed the cable and ran it behind the a/c condensor.

Thats why people fuse the alt power wire. Your batt is toast, you grounded the post terminal of your batt which caused it to short. You are lucky you caught it so soon or it would have exploded.
