Hey, yesterday I got my new comps hooked up (pg xenons) to my amp (pg octane 4ch) running off of my HU (pioneer 8600). I havent got my rear coaxs hooked up yet bc i ran out of time, but i got my front playing. it didn't sound very loud and sounded like the bass was weak and when it hit it sounded almost like a stock spkr being played too loud (more of a flat pop than a solid full tone). then i was driving today and the left spkr cut in and out and just stopped working soon after, except if i put the balance all the way on left it sounds like the tweeter is playing quietly (i have tweets screwed into the mid, is this good for imaging by the way?) so what you guys think it could be? would hooking up the rears make something work so they sound like they should. o and the amp puts 85 watts into 4 chan. thanks any ideas are appreciated

ok, i am heading over to my friend's house tonight to check everything out and get to the bottom of this. also, the xenon comps can handle 150 rms a piece, and my amp is 85watts into 4 channels so i plan on giving them 85 a piece. does this mean if i have the gain on my amp way up is the only way to get the full 85 to each? sorry i'm not the most knowledgeable about this stuff.

sounds like the speaker died to me if it just stopped working after making sounds like it was being played too loud. cone might of blown. sounds like what my premier sub did except for the playing low part.

ok the thing about the gain.. not to steal the thread but I'm curious, say you have a H/U with 2.2v preamps and one with 4v preamps does that mean you will have to turn the gain on the amp with the smaller H/U preamp voltage up higher than the other or lower?

update...yesterday i took the spkr out of my door and found out it is just a defective speaker. it plays fine-as long as you hold the fvckingg cone down physically. my friend said it's bc the vc isnt wrapped tight enough or something. i am going to get it replaced today. and no i didn't damage anything by puting the tweeter on. it is designed to screw into the center of the mid, it is called a convertible or braxial component set.
