No, seriously... I built a desk a while ago, and I custom built it for my equipment then. I've gotten a huge equipment change, and now there's a problem. I had 17" CRT monitors, so the desk was built so that I would look straight and see them perfectly. I upgraded to a 24" LCD. So, most of the top of my screen is lost by me. And, lately I've been getting really bad neck pain from my bad posture and looking up to X out the ish that's normally a part of this forum. Here's a quick sketchUp of my desk: The skeleton: It's covered by a piece of 1/2" Plywood, the bottom, as shown, has a 1/2" piece of plywood for the keyboard / mouse support, then another piece of 1/2" plywood to support that piece since it's very long and wouldn't have much support otherwise. The whole thing: I changed styles because the other one was confusing. Even for me, and I built it. This is much more uniform so it should be easier on the eyes. This is what I want to do. I want to knock out the middle support and put a new piece of 1/2" plywood to cover that whole section so that I can lower my monitor to eye-level. I can deal with the aesthetics. I was just wondering if anyone would think it would weaken the integrity of my desk that much. (I'm talking about removing the one piece of wood in between the Keyboard/Mouse support.)
