I was 4 blocks from where this happened when it happened. We heard the shots and figured they were fireworks until we heard the sirens. We drove right by it about 45 minutes later on our way home. I have some pics on my phone, but you can tell what the are... crappy *** camera phone.

This is just tragic. The fact that ANY 25 year old guy with 2 kids gets killed for some stupid srgument in a club is barbaric. I've been a Bronco fan for as long as I can remember, and probably a bigger fan than most since I've always been surrounded by hard-core Packer, Viking, and Bears fans. I never thought I would see something like this happen. Killing a father of two who had only lived about 25% of his life a week after Christmas is simply unforgiveable. Especially when it happens over a meaningless argument. We need to start thinking of torture methods so that when the bastard who did this gets to hell, they have some new ones to try out on his worthless hide.

KUSA - 9NEWS has learned the vehicle said to be involved in the shooting death of Darrent Williams is registered to a self-professed gang member.

Hicks, 27, is currently in jail on attempted murder charges. The key witness, Lonnie Clark, in the case against Hicks was gunned down outside of her house December 6, days before she was to testify against him. The murder of Clark is still under investigation, Hicks was in jail on December 6.

Hicks, a self confessed gang member, had previously mentioned ties to the Crips gang.

Williams was shot and killed early Monday morning while traveling from the Shelter night club where nearly 800 people had gathered to celebrate Kenyon Martin’s birthday.

A person with Williams at the nightclub New Year’s Eve was said to be dressed all in red, which is a color commonly associated with the Bloods gang. Sources tell 9NEWS that while at the nightclub, the person was in an altercation with other club goers dressed all in blue, a color commonly associated with the Crips gang.

This has led police to believe the attack on the limousine could have been gang related.

Police say the manner in which the bullets were sprayed were typical of an intentional act to hurt someone, as they were shot at roughly at head level.

Police combed Hicks’ neighborhood throughout Tuesday night in search of the 1998 white Chevy Tahoe. They issued the All Points Bulletin for the vehicle’s license plate 665 OBS Wednesday morning.

New developments in the case came just as teammates, family members and friends were to gather for a private memorial service in honor of Williams.

sad story but a perfect example why not to hang out in places where things like this could happen. If I was in his shoes the last place I would go to is a bar or night club....

It seems to me like there were just a bunch of crips at the club, and William's friend was wearing red, so they assumed he was a Blood and started causing trouble. When the left the club to get away from the bullshit, they were followed and gunned down over nothing. Remember that he was in a limo, which means there was heavily tinted glass. The killers weren't aiming for Williams, they just sprayed the whole car and didn't care who got caught in the crossfire.

Now days anywhere you go you are going to run into some low life knuckle head that doesnt care about anything and instead of fighting like a man with their fist they take out a gun and just shoot you. But its sad one cant even go out and have a good time with friends and wear what they want without someone right away assuming you are from a gang. R.I.P #27 Darrent Williams
