Was thinking maybe a soundstream Picasso (900x1@1ohm) or Rubicon II (1000x1@4ohm-mono) amp.......anyone up on these amps that could tell me a bit about them? (Why does the picasso put out max power at 1 ohm and the Rubicon does at 4 ohms?)

Would it be worth the $150 extra to buy one of these over a JBL 1200.1?

I'm sayin stick with the JBL, only because 3 of my friends have them and it's an amazing amp. They're all in the 140db range, the amp has some serious power.

I couldn't really care less about SPL...I'm looking for clarity and accuracy of sound. I'm just wondering if the $150 difference will be significant.

(Note: heard that the Soundstream amp's high damping factor is good to be matched with the IDMAX due to succeptibility to clipping. Also could add more to SQ?)

So, which would be better for an SQ application (Rubicon or Picasso)? Would there be a better amp in this price range?
