Deer down on the second day of the season!

Why shoot a doe?

Mississippi already as an unbalanced buck:doe ratio as it is. Something like 5:1 if i remember correctly. Ideal ratio is 2:1. We have way too many does. And besides, it is archery. I will shoot ANY legal deer with a bow. Its a rush unlike anything else except turkey hunting. I would take this over *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Nice! Now what do you do with it?
It is in my cooler. Keeping the tenderloins and taking the shoulders/ hind quarters to the processor tomorrow.

On another note..If enough people want jerky, and ya'll can tell me how to make it and pay shipping..I will ship out mass jerky to the forums //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Never had deer meat is it good?
It's GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!

Leaner and more protein than beef. I like the texture a lot more myself also. It is more "striated" I guess you could say.

I use ground deer in place of ground beef. Can grill some mean tenderloin. Will grill one of these tenderloin whole this weekend. For some reason, whenever I advertise I am grilling a whole tenderloin people love to "pop up" that night..haha..

But...deer meat is great..

your processor dood can't make jerky for you? Ours back in the day would do that for extra when he was cuttin up the deer.

that must have been one crazy angle! Little high, but at that angle it was probably spot on. still a nice shot though
She was closer than I thought, and angling to me more. I get antsy with a bow and tend to shoot too quick. Just had too many things go wrong. I thought she was about 34 yards and used my second pin. First time I had hunted this site and hadn't got a chance to range find/step off distances. The angle is what really surprised me when I found her. According to the arrow, I made a great shot though. Took out lungs, liver, and guts..lol..

Nice kill!

120 inch = big buck in MS!!!!

Good luck with them man..I have killed 50 something deer..passed on a ton of small bucks..And only taken 2 120"...To give you an idea..A deer only has to net 125" as a typical to make our states record program...

I can't imagine living in a state with with great soil quality....I'd have several P & Y's fo sho.

No need to roll your eyes, I wasnt aware of the Mississippi Doe to buck ratio. Plus every state has different laws, especially for rifle. I have only bowhunted for fishes.

Now I get it more, Texas has terrible soil, probably like MS. I am from Nebraska and Iowa where deer hunting is pretty crazy and 125 inches is pretty fair sized buck. Havent had the chance to hunt much down here.
