Decisions Decisions Decisions - Little more help please

I've decided that the extra $1000 for the navigation I want is not worth it for the amount of time I would actually use it. Here is what I've decided to go with in a C5 Coupe:

Front components: Focal K2Ps

Rear Fillers: Boston Pros

Sub: 10W6 or 12W6 - Should sound better in my car than a 10w7

Sub Amp: JL 500.1

Speakers Amp: JL 450.4

I still need help picking the hu since I am not going with the N2.

Here are my choices:

Pioneer: DEH-P960MP, DEH-P90HDD

Eclipse: CD8455

Alpine: CDA-9835

Clarion: DXZ955MC, DRZ9255

Kenwood: XXV-01D, KDC-X889, KDC-MP928

I would choose the Alpine simply because I've used them the most, but I can't offer you a good side-by-side comparison.

I listened to them. Great speakers, however, my ears telll me that the KPs beat out the Z6s barely and beat the crud out of the Utopias.

Maybe so, but still i would try to build a better box or something, you never want to down grade in subs, and my HU pick is eithe the alpine, or one of the pioneers.

I don't think the W6v2 is a downgrade at all...I liked the SQ of the 'v2 better, even if the W7 had more sheer output.

From a sound quality perspective, he's making the right choice.

Would love to go with 2 10s or even bigger, but I am trying to save as much weight as I can because I also track my car.

I would also go with a little bigger box for the W7, but from what I heard from installers I can save money and get better sound quality from the W6.

I like the Eclipse HU or the Alpine HU.

You can do some JL 10w6's in a small sealed box - that'd sound great. You might also like Sound Splinter RL-i 10's. I dont think in a vette you'd need huge subs becuase it's a small car to work with.

Dido on the alpine hu, great units just get one of the higher quality ones since they are mass producing the lower quality hu's to fill circuit city's demand.
