there's a band out of florida? i think, called slave to none that has one of the best drummers i've ever heard. never heard anything better.
You hear dying *****'s drummer? The most technical and intricate shit I have heard anyway...

havent heard them actually, heard OF them but no their music.
They are very intense and peticularly trippy. I can't hear any bass guitar in any of their songs. The big thing is the vocals. Their singer just screams his ****ing lungs out in every song. If you listen to it enough the tracks slowly come together and make sense, though.

At The Gates is an awesome death metal band. Although they broke up in the late 90's. You can tell their influence is very strong in the metal of today. I got their album Slaughter Of The Soul last year and I thought it was a new album since it sounds like a lot of the stuff out now. I had it for like six months until I found out it was an 11 year old cd. Last week I saw the band made up of most of ATG's lineup, The Haunted. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Although they are more like hardcore now.

If you want some great melodic death metal, check out In Flames, Arch Enemy (singer is hot), and Soilwork.

soilwork is really good. stabbing the drama was a good album. october episode is another good band.

Not sure if its really considered metal or whatnot, but I'm a big fan of In Flames as well. Lots of badass instrumental tracks.
I'd consider most of In Flames to be hard rock with death metal vocals. But yeah, In Flames is one of the best bands I've had the pleasure of listening to. I really got a kick out of the DVD that came with Come Clarity. Just the whole atmosphere in the recording studios, they're all like "I could just walk out and grab a cup of coffee and read the newspaper while playing this guitar and not miss a note".
