What motherboard and what video card?

If the motherboard is not very recent it probably needs an AGP card... if it's really new then probably PCI Express.

Do you have any of the specs for your PC? Maybe find out if you have an AGP or PCI slot? If you give us the model number of your computer we can probably help or better yet take cover off and take a picture of the motherboard close.

If you're asking that question... I wouldn't recommend you adding a new video card. Let someone else with experience do it. It depends on your motherboard. Their should be a website that scans your hardware and give you information about your motherboard and all the slots.
