well the rms for the idmax is 1000, just cuz it can take a lot more doesnt mean you have to give it a lot more.

id say check out a AQ HD, between 3500 and 9500 supposedly, or the new RE MX might be what you could look into with a neo motor cant be that deep

why not try the dd3510...probably better for your power and application

i would second this. i ran a 3510 on about 1400rms from an old soundstream and it rocked. compared it back to back with a 10w7, and it would get plenty loud (enough to demolish the 10w7) and played pretty clean and accurate. not quite as clean as the 10w7, but very close. but for the 270 shipped i paid, was well worth the 4 weeks it took DD to build the sub. it took every bit of that power and laughed at me wanting more. and that was in a small sealed box build for the w7. i'd be very curious to hear how much better it could do in the right ported box, as DD is very much against sealed boxes, i just never got around to building a ported one. did plenty for me sealed.

also why not make a tuneable port? use some foam like they use in car seats to plug up ports you aren't currently using, then you can have multi tuning for daily driving, and smashing spl when you want to impress someone.

i would recommend a new Si 12' mag. i have one in a 1.5ft^3 sealed enclosure with 600 watts and i cannot image turning the volume up more than half way. it gets low and sounds great.

That guy above with the experience with the 3510 has a perfect suggestion if you were looking into the 9510e for an SQL system. The new 3510d in bigger and badder than the 3510c was and was pitted against the 10W6v2, IDMax10 and some T310 RF sub in a shootout comparison for nice subs under $400. The 3510d came out on top in the initial review. If you read the write-up in the Car Audio & Electronics magazine, you'll see that it was more impressive than the rest, when you look at the score card at the end, you'll see it had been revised and severely shortened. It was sent in and they played it in a 1.5 cubic foot vented enclosure against the IDMax and 10w6v2 in their recommended sealed enclosures. It's a sick sub dude. But despite popular or even unpopular belief, (depends on which forum you peruse) you will have to break or beat them in for quite a while to get the Fs down and just break in the suspension for optimum performance and extension. The 9500's have 8 spiders on them, they are designed to give the subs the best chance of survival in todays eccentric market of 3kw daily driving amps. It's not the sub if you want it to jump out of the frame at 30Hz on 1000w.
