Hello I'm a total noob to but I am in the planning stages of a new sound system in my 2012 Dodge Ram quad cab.my question is if was going to use a 4 chanel amp to power my 4 door speakers,do I need another amp so that I can power the 3.5" speakers in the dash?or do I need to use a set of component speakers?

Oh bloody heck! I just recently abandoned my attempt at getting my 5.25" speakers up on the top of the dash of my 2006 Grand Caravan, and I just hope your Dodge Ram has better speaker mounts up there, as my GC has these crappy cheap plastic very inadequate speaker mount points. But I fear for you:

I'm opting for these instead, custom made A-pillar speaker pods!

A custom auto audio shop local to me makes them.

DOnt listen to this idiot, as you can see he his response has nothing to do with your question. As for the question, no you dont need a seperate amp, you would just wire the 3.5s with your 2 front door speaker to the amp, so 2chs would see 2 ohm and 2 channels would see 4 ohm. your good to go, just make sure the 3.5s can handle the power because your rms will be split between the doors and the 3.5s evenly.
